Capitol Reef / Arches

Unfortunately our first day at Capitol Reef was rained out. We spent most of the day tooling around a small town called Torrey. It was actually a nice break from all the hiking we had done the previous 4 days.

Yesterday the weather was perfect. We got up relatively early and hiked two different trails (Fremont River Trail and Grand Wash) within Capitol Reef. Afterwards, we headed toward Moab with a short stop and lunch in Goblin Valley State Park. We checked into Moab around 17:30, showered and had a wonderful Mexican Dinner.

This morning the alarm went of at 4:30 and the plan was to watch the sunrise from Delicate Arch within Arches National Park. We made it up to the top by 6:00 (sunrise was expected at 6:21), however a band of thick clouds prevented us from enjoying both the beauty of the sunrise and the Delicate Arch. Never the less, we were the only ones up there... giving us ample time for pictures and simply enjoying the peace and quiet of nature.

After hiking back down, we decided to pay a visit to Devil's Garden as well. It turned out to be another monster hike... well, when you travel I guess you walk a lot :)

We're back in Moab enjoying a cool drink. Tomorrow we are planning on doing either some Mountain Biking or River Rafting.
